About Anya
With over 4 years of teaching experience, I specialize in helping guitarists find both skill and creativity in their playing. I hold a Bachelor of Music in Guitar Performance (Contemporary Styles), which allows me to teach with both academic rigor and artistic flexibility. My lessons focus on compositional techniques, arranging for guitar, and original music creation. I emphasize harmony, melody, counterpoint, and how to record simple demos that showcase ideas. Every student has different goals, and I adapt my teaching to meet them. Beginners build confidence step by step, while advanced students refine their artistry and explore new creative paths. I have also worked with professionals who are ready to expand into composition. I believe guitar study should empower students to make their own musical statements. I teach guitar by blending practical playing with applied theory. My goal is to make scales, modes, and chord structures simple to understand and useful on the fretboard. We use harmonic analysis to uncover why songs sound the way they do. I then guide students to use those same principles in their own music. Lessons are adapted to personal goals, whether you seek energy and creativity or focus and refinement. I work step by step to ensure theory turns into fluent playing. Improvisation becomes natural as patterns and scales connect. Composition is encouraged so students learn to express themselves. I use clear examples and demonstrations to keep concepts simple. Every topic is tied to sound and technique on the guitar. Over time, this builds confidence and originality. Students leave lessons with both knowledge and inspiration. My approach makes theory accessible, practical, and fun to apply.
