There are many potential reasons why you might have to learn Hindi or a secondary language but let’s look at some reasons why Hindi is a good choice. In Ireland, unless you're exempt, we are forced to learn Irish and usually during secondary school we start learning a third language. For some people, this means that the only experience they ever get of learning a foreign language is in the stressful environment of the school where there is little room for expression, creativity or even fun. Languages can be fun and choosing to learn one yourself in your own time is an excellent reason in itself. However, learning another language can benefit you on your travels, can increase your intelligence and provide many more opportunities to meet people and clearly communicate.
The prices of lessons cover a wide range of values. Lessons themselves can be shorter or longer than an hour as well. Essentially, there is a wide amount of choice on Superprof when it comes to lessons which offer a level of flexibility that traditional schools just cannot match. However, don’t be afraid. It is still extremely easy to find effective lessons within your budget. Simply apply a filter on your search as Superprof provides many ways to filter out your searches. For example, you can sort by qualifications, level of education, prices, location and even if the tutors offer online lessons or not.
Hindi is quite a different language from English and the time it takes to learn varies from person to person. After all, learning a language is a skill and a talent which means some people have more experience or natural talent for picking it up. However, if you’re looking for the fastest and most seamless way to improve, then you’re in the right spot. Private lessons with a Superprof tutor will cut down on the time to learn a language for every learner. One of the benefits of Hindi is that it is quite similar to Urdu (when spoken) which means if you have the ability in one, you have some ability in the other. Another benefit is that Hindi is a phonetic language like Spanish. What does this mean exactly? It means that every word is pronounced according to its spelling. In other words, the way a letter is pronounced is consistent no matter the context. English, as may not be immediately obvious, is not a phonetic language. For example, K sometimes doesn’t get pronounced, what happens to the K in Knight? There is none of this in Spanish or Hindi which makes it a nice little feature for us English Speakers. However, there are also some challenges to learning Hindi. Hindi uses a completely different alphabet from English and features some sounds which don’t exist in English. Hindi also has diacritics which don’t exist in English, they are similar to the Irish fada and can completely change the word if absent/present. As a result, they are absolutely necessary.
Hindi is most used in the day-to-day lives of native speakers. It is filled with influences from many other cultures and languages like English and Arabic. Due to these influences, there is a big difference between day-to-day Hindi and what we would call “High-Hindi”, similar to High German if you’re aware of that, or L’académie française standard for French. For this reason, if you’re only planning on using your Hindi for talking to locals, friends, family or on trips then it might be a good idea to focus on conversational Hindi, otherwise, you’ll have to learn the stricter and less used but formal version of Hindi.
Finding a tutor has never been easier, Superprof can present you with a large online database of tutors within seconds. Simply, put in Hindi, and Ireland/Online and you’ll have a wide range to choose from. From there you can apply filters, send requests and do more research. If you do run into any problems, the Superprof help team is just a message away and will make sure you find your perfect Hindi tutor in Ireland!
