  • When did you start practicing and how did this passion find you?

I started practicing acting when I was about 12 years old. Initially, I wanted to be a lawyer and attended auditions just for fun. However, when I booked my first job on TV at 13 and another in theater the same year, I fell in love with acting. The experience made me feel like I was doing something important and fulfilling. Three years later, driven by the goal of entering the Moscow Arts Theater School, I finished two years of school in just one year to enroll at 16. This dedication paid off when I debuted at the Moscow Art Theater named by Chekhov at 17 and received a prize for the best debut on the main stage. By the time I graduated, I already had four theater lead credits.
  • Which artists or works affect you the most?

Honestly, I think the best acting teacher is classical music. Because actors work is to make invisible things VISIBLE. Music conveys the most complex emotions through sounds, even those emotions that do not have names in our languages. Very often I listen to Bach or Chaykivsky to find inspiration for my characters. Working with many different directors and in various genres has also greatly shaped my skills, allowing me to develop various techniques in crafting a role.
  • What are the qualities and skills required to succeed in this area?

To succeed in acting, both in theater and film, one must possess a combination of empathy, discipline, and versatility. Empathy allows an actor to truly understand and portray the emotions and motivations of different characters. Discipline is essential for memorizing lines, maintaining performance quality, and enduring the demanding schedule of rehearsals and shoots. Versatility is crucial as it enables an actor to adapt to different roles and performance styles. Additionally, a strong foundation in acting techniques and methods is important, as well as effective communication skills for working with directors and fellow actors.
  • What is the most valuable advice you can give to help someone stay focused on creative projects?

The most valuable advice I can offer is to establish a consistent routine and set clear, achievable goals. Dedicate specific times for practicing monologues, rehearsing scenes, or studying scripts, and treat these sessions as essential appointments. Breaking projects into smaller, manageable tasks helps maintain focus and prevents feeling overwhelmed. Surround yourself with a supportive network of fellow actors and mentors who can provide feedback and encouragement. Also, allow time for rest and reflection to keep your creativity and enthusiasm alive. Dream big, but start with achievable goals. As Stanislavski once said, "All you have to do is learn your nature and tame it."
  • How would you describe your passion? How does it make you feel?

My passion for acting is a profound and all-consuming force in my life. It makes me feel alive, fulfilled, and deeply connected to the human experience. Whether I'm performing on stage or in front of a camera, the act of bringing a character to life and telling a story is incredibly exhilarating. This passion brings me immense joy and satisfaction, especially when I see the impact my performances have on audiences. Acting makes me feel like I am doing something meaningful and significant.
  • What creative achievements are you particularly proud of?

I am particularly proud of my debut at the Moscow Arts Theater at 17, which earned me a prize for the best debut on the main stage. During my 11 years working there, I collaborated with directors from Russia and Europe, gaining invaluable experience and honing my craft. I have more than 20 credits as a lead actress in theater in Russia and recently released a performance as a lead actress in Boston. Additionally, I taught method and Michael Chekhov technique at the Moscow Arts Theater School founded by Stanislavsky for two years, helping students develop their unique strengths and skills. Currently, I am pursuing my master's degree in directing at the American Film Institute, which is another significant milestone in my creative journey.
  • Have you ever been surprised by a student by their ability of quick progression?

Yes, definitely. I had a student in my acting workshop who started with very little experience. Within a few months, their growth was remarkable. They developed a nuanced understanding of character development and delivered performances that were both powerful and authentic. Their quick progression and dedication to the craft were truly inspiring, and it reminded me of the incredible potential that each individual possesses.
  • Being a superprof is an art. What is your secret?

My secret to being an effective superprof is personalized mentorship. I focus on understanding each student's unique talents, challenges, and aspirations, and tailor my approach accordingly. I blend European and Western techniques to offer a fresh perspective on the craft. Patience, encouragement, and constructive feedback are essential to create a supportive learning environment. Staying passionate and enthusiastic about acting is also key, as it helps ignite the same excitement in my students and encourages them to pursue their dreams with determination and confidence. This approach allowed me to book an acting job as a lead actress in the U.S. less than a year after moving here, and I'm happy to share my experience with others.
