About Jocelyn

I’m a singing tutor with over ten years of experience and an Advanced Diploma in Singing, passionate about helping young children and early teens discover the joy of music. My lessons are playful and imaginative, weaving together games, movement, and storytelling to make learning pitch, rhythm, and vocal basics both fun and natural. I love seeing shy voices open up as we turn simple exercises into adventures, from singing games to character-driven activities. I specialize in teaching folk songs, Disney songs, and musicals, using familiar and engaging music to spark excitement and creativity. Every session blends age-appropriate technique with activities that build listening skills and encourage students to explore their voices safely. I create a space where mistakes aren’t scary—they’re stepping stones to better singing. Through music, I help students grow not only as singers but as confident, expressive individuals. We celebrate every small victory, whether it’s finding the right pitch, holding a note, or telling a story through song. My goal is to help every child feel proud of their voice and eager to share it. Using **lyric analysis sheets**, students break down songs, uncovering emotions, phrasing, and intent. This helps Adult Beginners connect to music on a personal level, while Advanced Teens learn to convey complex feelings with artistry. We dive into **genre exploration**—from jazz and pop to folk and soul—so both personas expand their creative palette. For Adult Beginners, this sparks curiosity and joy; for Advanced Teens, it sharpens versatility and stage presence. Improvisation is introduced through playful vocal exercises and **melody trainers**, encouraging spontaneity and creative risk-taking. **Vocal journals** track daily progress, reflections, and breakthroughs, making growth visible and motivating. We integrate modern tools like **DAWs** for recording and playback, helping students hear, analyze, and refine their performances. By blending structured technique with open-ended creativity, this method ensures every student finds their voice, tells their story, and sings with confidence and authenticity.
