About Felix
Although my professional training is in music, my foundation in French runs deep; I got an AP 5 in French without studying of course, as I completed my entire K‑12 education at the Lycée Français, where every subject was taught in French, and then spent the majority of the last 12 years living in Belgium, speaking French daily with colleagues and family. And for those who know, I’ve scored a few times above 450 points on Scrabble against my grandmother...
However complex French grammar may be (perhaps as tricky as German grammar), I believe that sounding good is the best first step to staying motivated and to really try. Who wants to sound like an American tourist? Nobody.
Once your pronunciation and ability to mimic are set, we can fly through the pedagogical books I like to use, making progress feel natural and rewarding.
I am a professional composer and multilingual "arts professional" with advanced degrees from the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp (BA) and the Royal College of Music in Stockholm (MA). I like to tutor as it gives me the time at home to study and prepare my personal artistic projects.
Having recently returned to New York from Europe, I look forward to sharing my tips and tricks for mastering French with you. Whether you’re a complete beginner or an advanced learner, my goal is to combine a solid technical foundation in grammar and pronunciation with more pleasure-first, real‑world applications of the language to help you develop your new French alter-ego!
