About Calum
I have wide-ranging tutoring and teaching experience, having tutored students aged between 9 and 23 in subjects as diverse as maths and languages. I have taught as an English-language assistant in two French sixth-form colleges, and coached swimming for several years.

I am an enthusiastic tutor who wants to support French learners at any stage from beginner to A-level. I favour practical lessons, working on past-paper questions, and considering the wider context of the topics and issues at-hand. For example, I like to use news articles to support vocabulary learning.
Too much language-learning is done in a vacuum, away from the culture that shapes the language, and the way it is used in practice. I aim in my lessons to highlight the wider cultural and practical concerns involved in learning French.
