About Iris
With 3 years of teaching experience and a Bachelor of Music in Composition (Guitar Emphasis), I bring structured training and creative energy to my lessons. I also compose and perform regularly, which shapes my approach to music. My teaching emphasises acoustic fingerstyle and classical guitar. I enjoy guiding beginners through their first steps on the instrument. Advanced students work with me on arrangement, interpretation, and nuance. Music, in my view, is a lifelong creative skill. Lessons are designed to nurture both technical precision and expressive depth. Students explore how to make music personal and authentic. I provide exercises that build skill while encouraging artistry. My goal is to help each student find joy and confidence in guitar playing. Lessons adapt to personal pace and interest. Together, we’ll make music both meaningful and rewarding.

My teaching approach centres on translating music theory into practical guitar skills. Scales, modes, chord construction, and harmonic analysis are introduced in hands-on ways. Students see how theoretical knowledge supports improvisation, composition, and performance. The Aspiring Rock Star gains tools for creating solos, riffs, and expressive phrases. The Classical Purist gains clarity in interpretation and harmonic understanding. Exercises combine technical practice with musical application. Lessons are tailored to the student’s goals, skill level, and style. I emphasise connecting theory to real music, not memorisation. Students build confidence, fluency, and creative freedom. My approach balances technical exercises, composition, and improvisation. Lessons are interactive and student-focused. Together, we strengthen both understanding and expressive ability on the guitar.
