About Riley

I’m a voice teacher and vocal artist with 7 years of experience teaching singers how to unlock their true vocal power through healthy technique, expressive artistry, and personalized coaching. My lessons are completely student-centered—your vocal range, musical taste, strengths, and goals shape everything we do. We build technique from the ground up: posture, breath, tone clarity, range development, agility, and smooth register transitions. From there, we explore interpretation, stage presence, and vocal storytelling. I support a wide variety of musical genres, including musical theater, commercial pop, indie rock, jazz, gospel, and original music. I integrate modern tech into my studio practice—recordings for progress tracking, apps for rhythm and pitch, and piano accompaniment to support melodic accuracy. I also coach singers through audition preparation, live performances, recording sessions, and even songwriting or vocal arranging. Emotional authenticity is a key part of my philosophy, so we often spend time on lyrics, subtext, and connection to material. My students often walk away with more than just vocal tools—they gain clarity in their musical identity, confidence in their sound, and a renewed sense of purpose as artists. About the lesson

Singing is a deeply personal and holistic art that bridges physical awareness, emotional truth, and cultural identity. I approach voice instruction with a commitment to cultivating Technical Integrity, Creative Curiosity, Cultural Inclusivity, and Personal Empowerment. Technical integrity means guiding students to develop reliable, healthy vocal habits by exploring posture, breath management, phonation, resonance balance, and dynamic control.

Each singer’s vocal instrument is unique, and I work closely with students to help them understand the physiology of their voice and master the mechanics that support sustainable performance across genres. Creative curiosity drives the emotional and interpretive aspects of singing. I create space in lessons for exploration through improvisation, dramatic context work, and alternative phrasing approaches, encouraging students to bring their own perspectives to the music they sing. Cultural inclusivity is essential to my teaching—I believe that diverse musical traditions reflect the richness of human experience, so I draw from a global repertoire that includes spirituals, folk music, art song, protest music, and contemporary forms from multiple traditions.

We approach each piece with historical context and artistic respect, helping students build both technical versatility and cultural literacy. Personal empowerment is the core outcome I seek to inspire in every student. My goal is not only to build strong singers but to nurture expressive, confident individuals who use their voices to reflect their values, experiences, and creativity. Whether preparing for a college audition, leading a worship team, writing original songs, or simply learning to sing with joy, each student is met with compassion, challenge, and a personalized path to vocal and personal growth. In my studio, the voice is more than an instrument—it’s a mirror of identity and a tool for transformation.
