About Owen
I am a passionate guitar teacher with over 11 years of experience and a Bachelor of Music Education with a focus on guitar. Teaching guitar is more than showing students chords or scales; for me, it is about helping them discover their own emotional voice through music. I believe every student has a unique story to tell, and the guitar is a powerful tool to express it. My lessons combine both heart and discipline. I guide students in building solid technique so they can play with confidence and ease. At the same time, I emphasize music theory in a simple and practical way, so they understand how songs are built and how to create their own. I want students to not only play what they see on paper, but also feel free across the entire fretboard. I teach a variety of styles and tailor lessons to each student’s goals, whether they want to strum songs, master complex solos, or compose original music. Developing practical fluency is always at the center of my approach, because fluency brings freedom. My sessions are interactive, encouraging, and designed to help students enjoy the journey at their own pace. More than anything, I love seeing students grow in both skill and confidence. Watching them connect with their emotions through the guitar is the most rewarding part of my teaching. My goal is to inspire a lifelong love for music while equipping every student with the tools to express themselves fully.

My teaching approach to guitar is rooted in patience, creativity, and passion. I believe every student, whether a beginner or advanced, can find their own voice on the instrument. I focus on building strong foundations with technique, rhythm, and tone, while also encouraging self-expression through different styles like classical, jazz, acoustic, and electric.
I use slow practice methods to help students master difficult passages without frustration, making sure each note feels natural and controlled. Breathing with rhythm is an important part of my lessons, as it connects the body with the flow of music. I also teach tone awareness, helping students hear the subtle differences that make playing more expressive and professional.
Beyond playing, I guide students to use music as a mindfulness tool, helping them relax, focus, and find joy in every session. For those aiming to perform, record, or push their limits, I provide structured steps and strategies that align with real-world goals.
I support students who want to excel technically, creatively, or professionally by creating a personalized path for growth. Each lesson is designed to bring balance between skill-building and passion. My ultimate aim is to inspire confidence, discipline, and a lasting love for guitar.
