About Karen
I’m a psychologist from the Universidad del Rosario in Colombia and currently reside in Alberta, Canada. I have experience teaching Spanish and English to children and adults and this experience has confirmed my passion for teaching. I’m a creative, empathetic and motivational person. My passion for teaching began at university and there’s nothing more special than teaching my own language. Spanish is a wonderful language so learning it will be even easier and I assure you that you will enjoy it!

-Learning Methodology
To begin, I like to motivate students to learn and achieve their goals. For this, part of the first class is based on knowing and identifying each individual's interests and passions. Once I know my students, I create a personalized study method based on Edgar Dale's learning pyramid model. This theory shows us that the percentage of information retention depends on the way in which it is learned. According to this, the highest percentage is equivalent to what we see, hear, do daily and when we also teach others. To achieve the latter, we will hold conversations whose theme is cultural exchange and thus both my students and I are learning and teaching at the same time.
My methodology is designed to reinforce 4 skills which are: listening, speaking, writing and reading. From basic level to proficient level.
