About Ava
You’re trusting me with your time and goals—here’s why you can feel confident working with me: Proven foundation: SAT 1580, AP Calculus BC 5; currently studying Linear Algebra & Multivariable Calculus (Differential Equations next). Extensive Experience: I am a teaching assistant for math-heavy Caltech machine learning bootcamps led by Dr. Reza Sadri, have tutored multiple friends in Algebra 2, and have tutored Chinese kids in English. Personalized plan: I tailor lessons to your prior experience and goals for the session. Clear communication: I will send you brief updates and a preview of the next class after each session, and I’m responsive between lessons for short questions. Professional standards: I will always be on-time and organized, and I have a simple 24-hour rescheduling policy. What I teach: Middle and high-school math—Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1–2, Geometry, Precalculus, and Calculus (AB/BC), plus SAT/ACT math support. My goal is simple: make hard topics feel manageable and help you see steady, measurable progress.

I personalize my lessons based on your specific goals for the session. During the first 5 minutes of every class, we will go through your goals for the day. I may then adjust the agenda based on your input. If you are trying to refine your grasp of concepts you have already learned/been taught, the above is critical. If you are planning to learn an entirely new subject, we may follow a more standardized lesson plan typically seen with the course. Regardless, a typical 60 minute session with me will typically look like the below: 5 min: check-in & goal for today 20 min: lesson on the key concept of the day 5 min: I guide you through a couple practice problems 15 min: Do practice problems yourself, ask if questions come up 8 min: Challenge question 2 min: Goodbyes :)

I have a 24-hour cancellation policy. If you would like to cancel, let me know at least 24 hours in advance. I charge 50% of the lesson price when students do not let me know in time.
