  • 1) When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

My interest in my chosen field and private tutoring began to develop during my formative years. As I delved deeper into my academic pursuits, I recognized the significance of individualized learning approaches. Over time, this interest intensified as I witnessed the profound impact that private tutoring can have on students' academic growth and development.
  • 2) Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

In the realm of mathematics, I thoroughly enjoy teaching topics such as calculus, algebra, and geometry, as these areas offer a rich platform for critical thinking and critical thinking skills. Exploring the intricacies of differential equations and their applications also excites me, as it allows students to grasp the practical significance of mathematical concepts.

Conversely, while I acknowledge the importance of topics like trigonometry and statistics, I find that some students may initially struggle to grasp these concepts fully. However, I aim to approach these subjects with patience and creativity, employing various teaching methodologies to ensure a comprehensive understanding among my students.
  • 3) Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

Throughout my educational journey, I was fortunate to have a teacher who truly inspired me. Their passion for teaching and unwavering dedication to their students left an indelible mark on my own approach to education. Their ability to make complex concepts accessible and their genuine care for each student's progress continues to serve as a guiding light in my own teaching philosophy.
  • 4) What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

I believe that being a good tutor necessitates possessing qualities such as patience, adaptability, and a genuine passion for teaching. A solid grasp of the subject matter is essential, but equally important is the ability to communicate complex ideas in a simple and engaging manner. A good tutor should also be empathetic and attentive to the individual needs and learning styles of their students, fostering a supportive and encouraging learning environment. Effective listening skills, empathy, and the ability to motivate and inspire students are key attributes that contribute to being an exceptional tutor.
  • 5) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

One memorable experience from my school days involves a challenging geometry problem that initially seemed insurmountable. Despite our initial struggles, our teacher encouraged us to visualize the problem differently, employing creative strategies to unravel its complexities. Through collaborative brainstorming and persistent exploration, we unlocked the solution, revealing the profound impact of innovative thinking in problem-solving. This experience taught me the importance of embracing creativity and critical thinking in the realm of mathematics, fostering a lasting appreciation for the power of unconventional approaches in tackling complex mathematical puzzles.
  • 6) What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

In my journey with mathematics, one of the persistent challenges has been helping students overcome their fear of the subject. Math often intimidates students, leading to a lack of confidence and reluctance to engage with challenging problems. Addressing this issue requires a patient and empathetic approach, fostering a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes and asking questions. Additionally, adapting teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and catering to individual student needs has been an ongoing challenge, necessitating continuous innovation and flexibility in my instructional approach.
  • 7) Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

My passion lies at the intersection of teaching and the fascinating world of mathematics. While I thoroughly enjoy the process of imparting knowledge and guiding students on their educational journey, my deep fascination with the intricate concepts and problem-solving techniques within mathematics adds an extra layer of enthusiasm to my teaching endeavours. Witnessing students develop a genuine appreciation for the beauty of mathematical theories and their practical applications is incredibly rewarding, fuelling my dedication to both the art of teaching and the complexities of the mathematical realm.
  • 8) What makes you a Superprof (besides answering these interview questions) ?
