About Derrick
Hi! My name is Derrick, and I’m excited to be your English tutor. Before coming to France I spent 11 months helping refugees improve their English at my local library. It was very a rewarding experience, and I hope to create a similar environment with you!
My personal hobbies include reading, fishing, and video games, so feel free to ask me about them anytime! Personally, I believe in a give-and-take approach to learning, where we both contribute to the experience. Besides English, I also have knowledge in History, Science, Politics, and some math topics.

A Typical Lesson Plan
Each lesson is structured but adaptable to meet your individual learning style:
Warm-Up and Review (10 minutes): We start with a brief review of previous lessons and a warm-up activity, such as a short conversation or a quick writing exercise, to get you thinking in English.
Introduction to New Material (15 minutes): I introduce new vocabulary, grammar, or language skills using real-life examples, visuals, and interactive activities.
Practice and Application (20 minutes): You’ll engage in activities designed to reinforce what you’ve just learned. This might include role-playing dialogues, writing short texts, or listening to and discussing audio clips.
Feedback and Correction (10 minutes): We’ll review your work together, focusing on what you did well and areas for improvement. I provide constructive feedback to help you progress.
Recap and Assignments (5 minutes): I summarize the key points of the lesson and assign practice tasks, like reading, writing, or speaking exercises, to reinforce learning until our next session.
