How to get the most out of your grinds  

Grinds are extremely helpful and can make a huge difference in your performance at school but as useful and effective as they can be, they aren’t magical. Effort and hard work are still required to get good results from them.  

Try and develop the habit of taking notes when you got to your grinds. You may be tempted to try and just memorise the work that you go through during your sessions, but the point of the grinds is to go over topics that you find difficult or don’t understand. They are used to improve your quality of work and so it is important to note down the information that you are taking in so that you can truly learn from it.               

The sole purpose of your private tutor is to help you, so please do ask them as many questions as you like. Don’t be worried about asking a “stupid” question, you are there to learn and every question that you ask will help you with your learning goals. 

When you have the time to do so, try and prepare for your grinds before you go. During the course of your week, as you are in school or studying at home, try and note down all questions that popup so that during your grinds, you remember what you had difficulty with or what you were unsure about.
