Let's start with Galway. Galway has a variety of yoga studios and classes to offer, from scenic and calming to intense and blazing. Hosting some of the most experienced yoga instructors in Ireland, the choices are near endless. Galway is a growing Irish city, with many young professionals turning to yoga to help with the stress they are feeling with work!

Galway in itself is a very scenic and peaceful city at times, with it being known for its countryside and riverside walks! However, its popularity all over the world can of course lead to visitors, and sometimes we need to get away from the hustle and bustle!

Galway Yoga Centre

First up, we have the Galway Yoga Centre. Established in 1986, they have over 35 years of experience under their belt. It was the first of its kind in Galway, so with them, you can be sure you will be working with people who know the business of yoga inside out!

They try to keep their classes simple, and beginner-friendly, making them the perfect choice for those looking to start their journey on the path to becoming yoga gurus. Their class schedule incorporates both morning and evening classes, meaning that your career will not get in the way, and you will always find a slot that suits you best!

Their prices are the industry standard, with a 7-week Zoom pass costing you €70, meaning just €10 a week. Their classes last an hour and thirty minutes, meaning you can knock your daily yoga class out right before bedtime. This will lead to some of the best sleep you will have!

Overall this is a good choice for those looking to get into yoga and those who are looking to get into yoga but that is on a budget.

Looking for  Yoga Classes in Limerick?

Limerick is a city full of yoga classes

Limerick has some of the best Ireland has to offer - especially in the intense yoga scene. Much like Galway, it is full of young working professionals who turn to yoga to relax, and in Limerick, you have plenty of options. So, let’s get started.

Bikram Yoga Limerick

First up, Bikram Yoga Limerick. For those of you who aren’t aware, Bikram Yoga classes revolve around high-intensity exercises, consisting of a series of twenty-six postures and two breathing exercises, all performed in a room heated to 40 degrees Celsius. You’re breaking a sweat here, that’s for sure.

If you are someone that has grown a bit bored with a yoga mat and the simple poses, this should be a great step up for you!

Their studio is located in the Delta Sports Dome in Limerick. They offer Bikram Yoga classes seven days a week, operating almost every day of the year. This gives you an idea of their popularity! If that’s not impressive enough for you, their prices are even more impressive.

Their Yoga Addict package gives you access to twenty classes, of your choosing, for €89. If you’re looking for a taster, they offer a five-class package, which will set you back €70. While both are affordable, their Yoga Addict package is a much better deal. Especially if you feel you will see it through! This will also help you incorporate consistency into your routine!

Bikram Yoga is aimed at those who already have some sort of cardiovascular endurance, as it is very intense and might be challenging for beginners to get into. However, if you like the challenge, then this is the yoga studio for you.

The Limerick Yoga Centre

The Limerick Yoga Centre was founded in the early 1980s and has been administered by a succession of highly qualified yoga instructors over the years. Their reputation and drive for excellence are second to none.

Classes at the Limerick Yoga Centre consist of traditional forms taught for centuries, incorporating postures, breathing exercises, relaxation techniques and meditation. They place emphasis on accommodating the needs of their students, so if you value the interpersonal aspect of yoga, this is the studio for you.

With the belief that yoga is for everyone, their class regime is tailored to suit all ages and levels of expertise. They offer gentle beginner classes, classes for intermediate yoga enthusiasts and intense classes for yoga gurus.

If you’re not comfortable with practising in a studio, they offer yoga classes via Zoom. Which, really, amidst all the restrictions we are faced with these days, is a blessing. Let’s talk a little about their speciality.

The Limerick Yoga Centre specializes in three types of yoga - Satyananda Yoga, Pregnancy Yoga and Somatic Movement. Satyananda Yoga incorporates both ancient and traditional practices, as well as implementing elements of physiotherapy.

Pregnancy Yoga caters to pregnant women, teaching them gentle stretches and breathing exercises to help with cramps and the stress of bringing new life into the world. Lastly, Somatic Movement is a set of postures and stretches known to relieve chronic muscular pain.

Cork Yoga with Claire

Claire Dunniece’s interest in yoga started from a young age. From a small introductory book to managing her own studio, she had come a long way from who she was back when she started. During a trip to Indonesia in 2012, she began to deepen her practice of yoga with various teachers and styles of yoga.

In 2015, she travelled to India to complete her 200-hour Teacher Training in the Himalaya Yoga Valley Centre in Goa (yes, the same Himalaya Yoga Valley we mentioned earlier). Now, she provides one on one private classes to students around Cork as well as runs her own studio in Ballincollig.

Not only that, Claire is the co-founder of Prana Yoga Retreats, where she leads retreats at beautiful locations around Europe.  I think we have painted a beautiful picture of her credentials. So, what about her prices?

Currently, Claire offers a 2-week access ticket, costing you €24, giving you access to three different LIVE classes per week and on-demand replays for 7 days after each class. It also gives you access to her extensive video library. I believe that this is the best value you’re going to get out of our contenders today, so why not give it a shot?

If you enjoy your stay, you can always book a retreat (once the lockdown restrictions are over, of course) with Claire and practice yoga in scenic locations around Europe. From Poland to Italy and everything in between, you have so many options!

Yoga is also really good for athletes, so if you are a sporty person, at any level, give it a try! It will really take your game to the next level!
