About Saundra
My background includes structural aerospace science engineering, aerodynamics, orbital mechanics and stability and controls. Outside of university education I have had the privilege and opportunity to teach algebra 1 and 2, biology, earth science, chemistry and physics to incarcerated youth that wish to obtain a high school diploma.
With my teaching background I have been able to effectively lead scholars within a classroom setting, by understanding learning styles and incorporating social and emotional skills that translate to the patience and comprehension certain engineering and science concepts require in order to master. I have had two scholars transition from standard school into GED programs. One month after their transition they both passed the science section on their first attempt.
My compassion has given me the ability to manage classrooms while building reputable rapport with highly marginalized and traumatized groups of teenagers. My experience has allowed me to find better ways of receiving information in order to administer purposeful and obtainable education; I have mastered teaching and instructing in ways that are clear, accurate and informative.

As an aerospace science engineer by education and educator by profession, I have developed a passion for educational equity within schools and facilities. I would love the opportunity to continue indoctrinating skills that promote critical thinking and self efficacy.
My lessons and teaching style incorporate real life problems into curriculum in order to better understand the concepts around earth science, chemistry and high level math courses. My teaching involves practicality, and influences engagement based on the learning styles of my scholars.
A personal quote: “Learner specific education invites critical thinking and engagement within all classrooms. If you can find new ways for scholars to understand information, your scholars just might find new and better ways to engineer technology.”
