When you start in accounting you know precisely what you’re getting into. Fields like English or any of the arts can lead you down many paths but when it comes to accounting you’re going to be learning practical skills that matter across the entire field, if you know that accounting is what you want, you’ll have an entire career path already set for you. Don’t be discouraged by the fact there’s a pretty set path, there is a lot of room for professional growth. Accounting is a highly tiered profession and as you get older and more experienced, better and more opportunities will head your way. Once you’ve mastered the skills of an accountant and have obtained your first job you can feel pretty safe in your position. It’s an essential part of any business and is not likely to be replaced anytime soon!
The good news is accounting students don’t need to think, the bad news is that accounting students have to be precise! Accounting is great if you like logical and practical manners of thought. You don’t have to analyse the artistic meanings of numbers, so what exactly do you students need to know? Number one is to have a reason behind everything that you do with the accounts in front of you. “Why am I crediting this account and debiting this one”, this is great practice and will allow students to fully understand the process when they don’t have their notes in front of them in the exam. The accounts are an essential part of the exam but it is important to learn the theory, you must be able to remember definitions and the answers to the theory questions, if you know the theory, it is hard to do badly in these questions. Now, accounting is a practical subject which means practice is the single most important thing you have to do in this subject. This is something a tutor can help immensely with!
Practice makes perfect, everyone knows this but not everyone does enough! This is the main strength of a tutor, they will provide extra time and lessons outside of school/university where you can really focus on improving your practical skills. Yes, there are often sessions where you do accounts in school but it is rarely enough. You could and probably should practice at home but there are often when students want to ask a question and the teacher isn’t available, or when a student lacks motivation or maybe when the student gets stuck and frustrated. A tutor will solve all of these problems. They will provide a comfortable environment where students can ask any questions, students can go over problems with the tutor, and when a tutor is present the student is more inclined to keep working.
Many of our Superprof tutors have experience in the field they’re teaching, this means when you get a tutor with us, you’ll get a personal view into the field. This is an invaluable professional relationship for the college students among you. So far you’ve most likely looked at theory, doing accounts and not much else, but what is the human element of being an accountant? What is it actually like being an accountant for a company! By getting a tutor you will get access to tips gained by tips, you’ll find out if this is the career path for you and at the end of the day if you go to your lessons, you’ll improve immensely!
Superprof has an excellent location feature that will allow you to find all the tutors in Cork immediately, you’ll see which ones can travel and which ones offer online lessons. Emphasis is on flexibility and making sure you find the perfect tutor for yourself! Reviews and prices can be filtered and there is no excuse for not finding a tutor that will work.
