Dublin is famous for its pubs, Georgian houses and streets, great food history and especially live music!
Trad music is always a nice attraction for locals and tourists alike and there are many places that cater to it such as O’Donoghues Bar, The Cobblestone, The Celt and lots lots more.
Trad music isn’t the only live music that is enjoyed by many, the city has many concert halls and venues where a variety of music is played and enjoyed such as the 3 Arena, Olympia theatre, Whelan’s, The Academy and countless others.
The city has given birth to many famous Irish bands such as U2, Thin Lizzy, The Script, Sinead O’Connor and other talented individuals and bands and will continue to do so, all with varying genres of music.
Hopefully, in such a music-filled place, you will find inspiration for learning a new instrument and who knows? Maybe leaving your footprint on the city as well.
If you are just starting out with the instrument then it is highly recommended to start off with a teacher. It is possible to learn by yourself but there is a great advantage to doing so with some help from someone experienced.
If you start learning to play the guitar then having a teacher from the very start will mean you will start with your best foot forward. You will be able to learn and master the basics quickly which will make the rest of the learning process in the future that much easier. You won’t develop and keep any bad habits or mistakes as they will be addressed early on by your teacher.
With their help, good techniques and advice will be passed onto you, setting a good foundation for you and your playing.
As time goes on and you become more advanced, having a teacher as you go through the learning process will mean mistakes will be continuously ironed out and a focus on more advanced techniques and even learning specific songs can be done.
Having frequent lessons and someone who can answer any questions you may have, will help make the difficult task of learning the guitar that bit easier for you and will help to keep it a fun hobby and passion for you.
When compared to many instruments, the guitar is quite accessible in terms of difficulty. To get started with the instrument, learning a few basic major and minor chords will get you started, allowing you to practice your technique and finger movements without having to get to the advanced things.
It is also not a requirement to be able to read music to get started. Unlike a piano for example where you’ll have to put the time in early on to learn it.
