About Bessie

I am a First Class graduate from Chelsea College of Arts, University of the Arts London - QS Rankings’ #2 university in the world for art and design for seven consecutive years! My academic route has been from A Level Art, to Art Foundation and then a BA in Fine Art. I now work as a professional filmmaker for corporates and charities and continue to develop my own moving image practice. My qualifications: - BA (Hons) Fine Art from Chelsea College of Arts (First Class Honours) - Foundation Diploma in Art and Design - Fine Art Sculpture from Central Saint Martins (Merit) - A Level Art (A*) and AS Photography (A)

About the lesson

I offer guidance for Foundation and BA applications in art and design subjects, including: - Personal statements - Portfolios - storytelling, selection and layout - Interviews - verbal presentation techniques and mock interviews I can also provide help with A Level Personal Investigations and Exam projects, including: - Experimentation and developing your creative process - Reflective writing Having studied A Level Art and gone through Foundation and UCAS applications myself, and then gone onto a BA Fine Art course, I have personal experience applying successfully to universities with A Level coursework. My emphasis is on giving students the tools to effectively communicate their creative process, and critically evaluate their own work and the work of others. I base my guidance around degree course marking schemes, which helps prepare students not only for their university applications but also for degree level study. My personal practice has spanned moving image, photography, sculpture, installation, drawing and printmaking, which enables me to advise from a multi-disciplinary perspective, an approach university courses have been trending towards. Lessons are typically 45 minutes to 1 hour and will take place primarily online but in-person lessons are negotiable due to the physical nature of some portfolios.
