About Oscar
I’m a recent graduate of SOAS University of London, on the BA World Philosophy course, achieving a First Class Honours degree. I studied Philosophy, Religious Studies and Politics at A Level. During my time at university I was heavily involved in student political understanding and learning about the modern social climate in the UK through a critical lens. I think that tutoring offers a more personal approach to learning especially since the pandemic has made students feel much less connected to their learning. Through 1on1 tutoring I hope to get to know my students and bring out their passion and interest for their subject, creating a personalised approach that builds their confidence with the subject.

I take a personal approach wherein I first identify why a student chose to study that subject and what about it piques their interest, I then identify elements of the course where they’re struggling and cater session and lesson plans which play to their strengths. For example if a student was struggling to get their head around Kantian ethics I would guide them through modern societal examples of where that view is common or examples of it in media/culture to help the content be more relatable. When tutoring I want to foster a conversation and a debate to interest the student.
