About Gabbie
I am a 2nd year McGill Scholar at Maryville College, and I am passionate about the idea that education is an honor to partake in. Coming from a competitive academic background, I found myself lost in the rush of striving for perfection rather than striving for improvement. I believe many students in my generation are held to these standards of perfection, which then into their own self-efficacy when anything less than that is produced. I want to change that narrative, and through my lessons, I desire to ensure that education and shame are never associated in my students’ minds. I believe that redefining the education system’s purpose will produce people who learn out of a desire to succeed instead of a fear of failure.

My lessons are for anyone who desires to learn English as a secondary language, for those who need grammatical assistance, for those who need help in writing development, or more generally for anyone who needs a confidence boost in their ESL skills. More specifically, I will be of the most aid to those in elementary, middle, or high school. A typical lesson plan varies depending on individual needs, but it will always include a thorough explanation of the concept at hand followed by an interactive activity. I will integrate an interactive activity into writing development sessions, as well.
