About Donovan
Graduating with a B.S. in Forensic Chemistry and working toward a Ph.D. over these last few years have allowed me to become much more knowledgeable of the base concepts of Chemistry and have provided me with plenty of opportunities to teach. Working as a Teaching Assistant for Undergraduate labs, as well as aiding students in their own research projects has turned me into a strong mentor. Having been in the shoes of students who have aspirations of working in STEM in the future is something that drives me as an instructor. We were all in the same boat. Seeing my students succeed by getting good grades, and pushing further toward their ultimate goals is the outcome I want as a tutor.

My tutoring sessions are highly interactive. I come prepared with additional problems to allow students to have access to material beyond what they receive in class. Rather than being an aid who just spectates and provides feedback as a student is working their own problems, I come in with the agenda of ensuring that the concepts are taught thoroughly, and elaborate upon them in a manner compatible with the student’s learning style. These meetings are very conversational, and I will pose questions throughout so that I can have an idea of how the students are grasping the material.
