About V Karthikgayan

Looking for help with ABRSM piano or music theory? I am a Malaysian pianist with ABRSM Grade 8 Piano and Theory with Distinction, and I specialise in helping students at Grade 1 to 5 build real understanding — not just passing exams.
I create my own reference materials to help students visualise concepts clearly, and I work at your pace whether you are a complete beginner or preparing for an upcoming exam.
Lessons are stuctured, clear, and focused on building genuine confidence in music.

About the lesson

ABRSM Grade 8 (Distinction) piano & theory tutor — patient, structured lessons for ages 7 and above

I'm a pianist, percussionist, and music teacher who believes lessons should feel like the highlight of a student's week — not a chore.

I teach one-on-one piano and music theory, either online or physical classes (covering Kota Kemuning / Rimbayu / Shah Alam)

I've also been picking up percussion for the past two years and now perform in ensembles at orchestral events. Active performance keeps my musicianship sharp and shapes how I teach rhythm, phrasing, and listening at the keyboard.

How I teach : Every student starts with a trial lesson so I can understand your goals and learning style, then I build a personalised plan balancing technique, theory, sight-reading, and musicality. I welcome complete beginners (from age 7) , up to Grade 5 ABRSM and also anyone who simply wants to enjoy the piano more.

Qualifications

ABRSM Grade 8 Piano Practical — Distinction
ABRSM Music Theory — Distinctions at every grade up to Grade 8
Currently pursuing Trinity ATLC Performance Diploma

Awards
Prize winner at the Vivace, Euroasia, and E-Atrium Competitions.
