About Isabel
Hi! My name is Isabel, and I’m an English tutor with a strong background in academic writing, communication, and legal studies. I’ve earned my Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and am currently pursuing my Master of Legal Studies, which has strengthened my skills in reading comprehension, clear writing, and analytical thinking—tools I now love helping students develop. I’ve spent years working in professional environments where precise, effective communication is essential, and that experience has shaped the way I teach. I’m patient, encouraging, and highly organized, and I always break information down in a way that makes English feel understandable and manageable, no matter your level. I genuinely enjoy helping students build confidence in reading, writing, and grammar—whether we’re working on an essay, improving sentence structure, practicing for tests, or strengthening overall English skills. My goal is to make learning feel approachable and to give every student the tools they need to succeed academically and beyond. Outside of tutoring, I’m passionate about fitness, personal growth, and helping others reach their goals in a supportive, judgment-free environment. I bring that same mindset into every session. My approach as an English tutor is patient, structured, and tailored to each student’s individual learning style. I believe confidence is built through clarity, so I break down complex reading and writing skills into simple, manageable steps. I focus on strong foundations in grammar, sentence structure, reading comprehension, and essay organization while also helping students understand the “why” behind the rules of English.
For teaching techniques, I use guided practice, real-world examples, and interactive feedback. Instead of simply correcting mistakes, I explain how to improve and why changes matter. I also use editing exercises, reading analysis, vocabulary building, and step-by-step writing instruction to help students apply what they learn immediately.
A typical lesson begins with a short skills check or review of previous work. From there, we focus on one main objective for the session—such as strengthening thesis statements, improving paragraph structure, reviewing grammar rules, or increasing reading comprehension. Students then complete guided practice with my support, followed by independent work and personalized feedback. Each lesson ends with a clear takeaway and optional practice for continued growth.
What sets me apart as a tutor is my professional background and real-world application of English skills. My experience in law and higher education allows me to teach writing with purpose, structure, and clarity—skills that directly translate to academic success, professional communication, and college readiness.
