Academic writing in the arts, how should we look at and write about the arts

Maia loves her lessons with Arron, she looks forward to it every week. Although she was shy at first, Maia has grown in confidence with Arron. She has fun in her lessons and its great to hear her laugh as she learns!

I'm 15 years old and I've been working with Arron for 3 years, we really struggled to find anyone to teach me photography and I got along with Arron the best, he has helped me complete my silver and gold trinity arts awards and has helped me host 2 of my own exhibitions which were very successful to the point I even made my own money, I think he's the best tutor you could ask for, very understanding and laid back.

We have home educated our daughter for 8 years, she is very creative and we have really struggled to find someone to help her with her creativity over the years. We met Arron around 3 years ago though the home education community, he had just started his new business, which worked around him and his family as they were also home educating. We started tuition with him on a 1-2-1 basis in photography in around July 2017. My daughter struggles socially and I thought there may be issues, as that has been the case with other art courses that we have attended, (although we have never found anyone to tutor in photography) but there hasn't been any issues at all. We were at the time doing a Silver Arts awards through the local library, this was not going well at all, my daughter was constantly confused, they would change their minds on what she had to do to achieve the qualification. In the end we left the library and Arron took over helping with the Silver Trinity Arts awards qualifications, which he did, which is why she had her first exhibition. After she obtained her Silver arts awards we wanted to go for the gold and asked Arron if he would do the training to become an Arts awards assessor so she could do it all through him rather than elsewhere. He did the training and he now delivers all the trinity arts awards from bronze to gold. my daughter has held 2 exhibitions, her 2nd exhibition was amongst other artists, which was a huge success. She has an amazing portfolio, built a website, has a extensive blog with a lot of what she has learnt over the time with Arron. She has made some really good connections, and will be starting college in September this year. The College stated that she was above the standard that they taught at College and was more at university standard and said she had an excellent knowledge in photography and also a extensive portfolio of work. Even though she will be starting college in September, she will continue her work with Arron throughout college, and even University if she chooses to go. She has developed a excellent eye and can use photoshop very well. We have been to many different places that offer art and photography, but nothing has ever compared to the standard that Arron teaches. He is a relaxed tutor, and has a knack of teaching you things without it feel like you are being taught. Even throughout the Covid pandemic, tuition has continued over Zoom calls, and we have still been happy with everything that has been done. So even if you can't attend regular face to face sessions, things can be still done on line. I have no hesitation in recommending Arron and PEA Smart to anyone.

Aaron is great at encouraging the children to try new styles and at building their confidence. He has a great approach that allows them to relax and enjoy their art sessions.

Arron has tutored both of my daughters in Art and Photography. My eldest daughter is currently completing a Trinity Gold Award in Photography with Arron and she is absolutely loving it and is creating some amazing work. Arron has guided her from her initial idea and has supported her and helped her grow and explore that idea into something incredible. Arron is extremley knowledgable and gets to know his students well, which means he can help them embrace their individuality and push their creativity in their own direction. I cannot recommend Arron enough, He is always friendly and is very approachable. My daughters have both learned so much and always look forward to their lessons.
