About Lopamudra
I am a published author, editor and adjunct faculty of creative writing at Richland College, Dallas and also an instructor at Texas Christian University. I have published six single author books and co-edited four anthologies. I have a Master's degree in English with a thesis in Creative Nonfiction Writing from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, where I have also served at the Writing Center as a consultant/mentor. I teach courses in poetry writing, memoir writing and also writing across the genres, while mentoring students in all aspects of literature/reading/literary expressions. My work has been published in various esteemed platforms, including 'Life in Quarantine' project curated by Stanford University. In November 2019, I had been chosen as a featured poet/writer at Rice University, Houston where I also coordinated a writers workshop. I also teach composition and essay writing, enabling students with better understanding of writing for a greater purpose/objective. Starting my writing journey with journalism and content writing for various organizations, over the years I have evolved as an author in various genres (fiction, nonfiction, poetry), hence with my education in English literature and with my background and experience in writing, I aim to offer my own insights into writing and literature studies while teaching/mentoring my students.

My teaching approach is creative and analytical, based on reading and discussing the nuances of language, imagery, structure and style in the literary pieces I would teach as rich references to the students' writing process. In each class, I prefer taking a classic example of a literary text as a springboard and from there I initiate the process of creating their own pieces, focusing on the narrative style, and the various elements of the narrative. I would be comfortable teaching both school kids and adults (undergraduate/graduate students) who would need meaningful interaction and intervention by a mentor in all aspects of reading/writing and literature. In the current online-only teaching scenario, I teach classes in Zoom (synchronous), following up with students in e-mail. Sometimes, there would also be YouTube videos depending on the students' needs. Some courses that I have taught/are teaching currently include: Poetry writing: As a Tool of Social Change and Empowerment The Art and Essence of Writing Memoir/Creative Nonfiction The Joys and Challenges of Creative Writing (covering all genres, with the purpose of writing for an audience) Besides these, I can teach other short courses in literature and writing, depending on the needs of individual students.

I am a current student of Lopamudra. I find her a very inspiring, brilliant teacher, who teaches classes tailored for me and inspires me to reach new heights. She is
1) Very professional.
2) Very well prepared with materials on hand 2 days before class.
3) Presentation in class is wonderful and she allows discussions from which I learn a lot.
4) Discusses her take on modern short stories and evolution of short story and memoir writing which was her Master's thesis. Has depth of knowledge on the subject.
5) Inspires me to be as creative as I can be.
6) Has her own body of work that is very impressive and that I have read and am reading now.
I can't recommend Lopa enough. Anyone who takes her class will see what I see right now.
