About Margaret

After seventeen years teaching ESL, my method is highly systematic, built around detailed diagnostic testing at the very start of every tutoring relationship to pinpoint exact gaps rather than guessing at weaknesses. Topics are organised into a mapped sequence covering grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation, showing students explicitly how each concept feeds into the next, which helps learners see coherence across the entire curriculum. For citizenship or certification exam preparation I rely heavily on timed practice combined with detailed error analysis, categorising mistakes as conceptual, careless, or time pressure related, since each demands a different fix. I maintain a long term tracking spreadsheet for every student, logging performance across topics over months.
