About Joanna
I am a specialist computer science tutor with 6 years of experience across GCSE, A-Level, and undergraduate teaching. I support students in Python, Java, and C++, with a focus on syllabus mastery, coursework excellence, and strong programming fundamentals. My students range from beginners learning variables and loops to university learners implementing algorithms, OOP, and relational databases.
During my 6 years of tutoring, I have developed structured methods for tackling each qualification. For GCSE, I target computational thinking and precise exam technique. At A-Level, I cover advanced theory, pseudocode, trace tables, and provide full NEA guidance from analysis to evaluation. University students receive support with data structures, complexity, software design, and academic coding standards.

Think of our lessons as pair programming with your own personal dev. We’ll work through your syllabus whether it’s GCSE programming tasks, A-Level NEA projects, or Uni assignments in Python, Java, or C++.
I explain the “why” behind the code, not just the “how”. We’ll debug errors together, plan projects, and practise interview-style problems if you want. Relaxed, supportive, and always focused on making you an independent programmer.
For GCSE, we make sense of sequence, selection, and iteration with small programs that actually run and do something useful. You’ll learn how to read error messages and fix them without panicking. At A-Level, we map theory to code, write clean pseudocode, and break your NEA into weekly milestones so it never feels overwhelming. University students can bring coursework, labs, or tricky concepts like linked lists, recursion, or SQL queries. We’ll refactor messy code, talk through design choices, and test until it works.
I’ll share shortcuts, tools, and habits that real developers use every day. Between lessons you’ll get clear goals to practise, and I’m happy to review code you send over. No judgement here. Just steady progress, better grades, and code you’re proud of.
