About Conner

I have mentored youth in various academic subjects for three years, and am now expanding to ACT/SAT preparation in order to give learners a better shot at college admission and scholarship awards. When I was preparing for the ACT, I studied many books and resources about the designs and subjects contained in the test, and how to best master them. I learned to spot and overcome every trick the ACT uses, and came to understand college admissions and study methods in the process. In the end, I scored a 35 on the ACT (twice!) and was one math or English question away from scoring a 36 on my second test.

About the lesson

I love learning and helping others learn, so I am willing to teach anyone of any age or educational background so long as they are willing to put the effort in and join me in this journey of finding knowledge.

I recognize that the ACT and SAT generally do not cover especially advanced topics (they only cover what the average student will be exposed to during high school), but instead use different methods and tricks to make pupils use that knowledge and find answers in ways they will not be accustomed to. Therefore, my main goal is to help students learn these tricks and techniques and overcome them, so that the tests become much easier to navigate and conquer. I will also reveal weaknesses in subject matter and skills and connect students to the most appropriate resources I can find to help them study and fill in gaps.

My methods involve mock tests followed by 1-on-1 tutoring to evaluate and shore up weaknesses in performance, as well as mini-tests to help trainees practice and evaluate what they learn in out tutoring sessions.

Details

Extra costs will be assessed for distance traveled. Generally, I will travel up to 40 miles, with a 5 dollar base fee and $.75 for every mile after 10 miles, up to a total of $20 in travel fees for a session. Lessons within 5 miles are no extra charge.
