About Allegra

I come from an education background, but I wear a lot of hats: teacher, musician, storyteller, and someone who genuinely loves helping others feel seen. I’ve taught in California public schools, worked with students across grade levels, and hold a Master’s degree in Teaching & Learning, but beyond the credentials, what drives me is connection. I believe learning should feel empowering, not intimidating. Outside of teaching, you’ll find me writing songs, walking my dog in nature, or working on my art!

My teaching style is flexible, student-centered, and grounded in emotional intelligence. I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all because every student learns differently, and I adjust my approach to meet their needs. I use a mix of discussion, visuals, movement, and hands-on practice to keep things engaging. I also integrate mindfulness techniques and social-emotional check-ins to help build a learning environment where students feel seen, safe, and supported. Patience and adaptability are my superpowers.. especially when things don’t go as planned (because that’s just part of real learning). A Typical Lesson Plan Each lesson is tailored to the student, but I usually follow a loose structure: Warm-up/check-in – Set the tone, connect, and assess mood or stress level Mini goal setting – Clarify what we’re working on and why Guided practice – Walk through concepts together using strategies that match their learning style Independent try – Let the student take the lead while I support as needed Reflection & next steps – Quick debrief and celebrate progress, no matter how small If something’s not clicking, I pivot. My goal is always for the student to walk away feeling more confident and capable than when we started. What Sets Me Apart I blend academic support with emotional awareness. I’m not just helping students "get through" school, I’m helping them trust themselves, find their voice, and discover how they learn best! I’ve taught multiple grade levels (1st, 2nd, 4th) in California public and private schools, and I have a Master’s in Teaching & Learning, with a thesis focused on Social-Emotional Learning (SEL). I understand how unpredictable life and learning can be, and I’m really good at rolling with it in a way that keeps kids grounded. I bring humor, creativity, and heart to everything I do. Who the Lessons Are For My tutoring is best suited for: Elementary students (K–5), especially those who need a patient, flexible, and emotionally attuned approach Students with learning differences, Autism, anxiety, ADHD, or other needs that require out-of-the-box support Families looking for private education alternatives Creative kids who thrive when given permission to learn differently That said, I’m also open to supporting older students or even adults if the fit is right — especially in writing, study skills, or creative projects.
