About Thibaut

I am an American-French Singer-Songwriter, Multi-Instrumentalist and Producer. I have written my own songs and performed them since 2010. I have tutored students of diverse ages and backgrounds over the last 2 years since completing my Masters in Popular Music from Goldsmiths University of London where I focused on Live Music Performance and Popular Music Composition.

I have taught students on acoustic, electric, and classical guitar. Sharing lessons on a weekly and fortnightly basis, I have helped students learn some of their favorite songs, achieving new technical skills on guitar including basic theory and chords, to arpeggios and songwriting.

Alongside my personal musical practice, I have coordinated and performed in a few musical projects (Manila and Kneaded) and have worked as a session musician on recordings as well.

About the lesson

Everyone learns in their own unique way so my approach to teaching accommodates for this whether you are a visual, auditory or kinesthetic learner- or if you learn in another way. Likewise my teaching style accommodates for different tastes in music including but not limited to: Indie, Rock, Pop, Folk, Classical and Jazz.

  Our first lesson is focused on working out what connects you to the guitar; what draws you to this instrument and what goals you might have for your own learning. This will also help me create a bespoke teaching method and curriculum according to your own needs, goals, and personal learning approach.

Establishing goals early on also means that we can break down these goals into manageable parts and set realistic dates to chart your progress.  

After each 1 hour lesson, I provide you with exercises to focus on during the week alongside clear, detailed notes from your lesson for you to refer back to. I often include chord diagrams, links to learning resources, and outline key concepts. I make these notes available through an online drive and I am happy to email you a pdf if you would like to print them as well.

Occasionally, we also have a pop quiz to work on confidence in playing under pressure.

Concessionary Rates:
I believe everyone should have access to lessons and support learning no matter you financial circumstances so I do offer flexible concessions to low income individuals and students. Contact me for more information :)

Extended Session Policy:
Sometimes lessons go over our scheduled time. If this happens I won't charge for this.

Cancellation Policy:
You can cancel a lesson up to 48 hours before a scheduled session. Alternatively you are welcome to move a lesson up to 24 hours before a scheduled session.
