About James

My name is James O'Neil, a professional social studies teacher from the United States of America with an active teaching license and a current student of Islamic Studies at Cambridge Muslim College. I am a seasoned tutor with over 6,500 hours of experience working to help clients in China achieve the level of English mastery required of them to enter prestigious universities abroad, and have experience helping students prepare for the IELTS exam. Most of my work has taken place over the internet through ESL agencies such as VIPKID, but I have also tutored both primary and secondary school students here in the U.K. As I went through the American higher education system, I can help students hoping to apply to American universities by providing them with assistance in preparing for the SAT/ACT tests and drafting a college admissions essay.

As a social studies teacher, I have taken classes at Millersville University in history, sociology, anthropology, philosophy, and civics at an undergraduate level, while my current studies at Cambridge Muslim College have entailed an extensive inquiry into the Islamic sciences of jurisprudence, exegesis, theology, and hadith as well as a liberal education in philosophy, world religions, the Arabic language, and further courses in the social sciences. At both Millersville University and Cambridge Muslim College, my professors and lecturers have recognised my competence in essay writing--in the last academic year, I have achieved scores above 71 on all of my essays and exams, and outside of formal education, I have served as an editor on a yearly journal publication.

Considering my experience, I am confident that I will be able to help both international and domestic students to achieve their potential with IELTS/English, GCSE, A-Level, and university courses, particularly when it comes to the skill of Academic writing and test-taking.
