About Thiago

Thiago Pinho is a Ph.D. professor at the University of Senai Cimatec in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil, with extensive experience in teaching Portuguese and developing innovative learning methods. In 2020, he was as a visiting researcher at SCI-Arc in Los Angeles, United States. His master’s and doctoral research focused on language and its relationship with people, society, and culture, which he further developed during his postdoctoral work in Innsbruck, Austria. Additionally, he is a professional translator in Brazil, specializing in translating books, academic papers, and interviews Thiago Pinho é professor doutor na Universidade do Senai Cimatec em Salvador, Bahia, Brasil. Tem muitos anos de experiência no ensino de português e no desenvolvimento de novos métodos de aprendizagem. Em 2020, foi pesquisador visitante no Sci-Arc em Los Angeles, Estados Unidos. Além disso, as suas dissertações de mestrado e doutoramento foram sobre a língua e a sua relação com as pessoas, a sociedade e a cultura. Ele foi premiado com uma bolsa JESH (Joint Excellence in Science and Humanities) pela Academia Austríaca de Ciências em 2023. Ele também é tradutor profissional no Brasil, especializado na tradução de livros, artigos e entrevistas

About the lesson

I am a college teacher with a Ph.D. and 10 years of experience in Brazil, the United States and Austria. I have already published two books on language, and a new book is coming out soon. My methodology depends on your level of fluency, but generally focuses on improving your listening, reading, and speaking skills. In our classes, we use a variety of didactic materials such as videos, texts, fill-in-the-blanks exercises, cartoons, and more. The main goal is to help you experience the English language beyond the boundaries and formalities of textbooks and apps. So, it doesn't matter who you are, how old you are, or where you come from – you can count on me anytime :) Sou um professor universitário com doutorado e 10 anos de experiência no Brasil, nos Estados Unidos e na Áustria. Já publiquei dois livros sobre linguagem, e um novo livro será lançado em breve. A minha metodologia depende do seu nível de fluência, mas geralmente se concentra em melhorar as suas capacidades de escuta, leitura e fala. Nas nossas aulas, utilizamos uma variedade de materiais didáticos, como vídeos, textos, exercícios, desenhos animados, entre outros. O principal objetivo é te ajudar a experimentar a língua inglesa para além dos limites e formalidades dos manuais e aplicativos. Por isso, não importa quem você é, que idade tem, ou de onde vem- pode contar comigo a qualquer momento :)

Deadly! Thiago est un excellent professeur, souriant, patient , etc. Il utilise un plan de travail assez efficace, ainsi que des stratégies pour établir des liens (images, gestes, etc.). Avec cette méthode, on peut facilement retenir les cours, car il utilise un vocabulaire correct et précis. Thiago active les connaissances antérieures de l'élève en le questionnant avant chaque séquence d'enseignement, il favorise également la participation de son apprenant tout au long du processus d'apprentissage! Je suis satisfaite de l'avoir comme prof d'anglais, je recommande vivement!

Thiago is an excellent teacher, smiling, patient, etc. He uses an effective work plan, as well as strategies for establishing connections (images, gestures, etc.). With this method, one can easily retain the lessons, because he uses correct and precise vocabulary. Thiago activates the student's prior knowledge by questioning them before each teaching sequence, he also promotes his student's participation throughout the learning process!
I am satisfied with him as an English teacher and I highly recommend him!

Thiago has been an engaging instructor. He is always ready to pay attention and cater to what interests you and usually basing the lesson plans on this-- which what makes the class personal, fun, and refreshing. It feels like you are only talking to a friend to freely and openly discuss ideas, biases, notions, concepts, etc. He is kind and takes great passion in social philosophy. I always end up with more learnings and a more expansive understanding of the world whilst having fun. I highly recommend Sir Thiago. Professional yet adaptive and fun. Structured yet not rigid. Incredibly enjoyable yet not whimsical. The best!
