About Tan
My name is Tan Nguyen, a Vietnamese permanent resident in the U.S.
I started my art career by enrolling in a trade school, majoring in Graphic Design during high school. I am currently majoring in Illustration at the School of Visual Arts in NYC. Therefore, during my education so far, I have mastered both digital and traditional art; whether using Adobe Creative Suite software or oil painting, I am confident in bringing my thoughts into visual form.

My lessons are designed to demystify both digital and traditional art by breaking complex concepts down into manageable, practical steps.
Whether you want to master digital software like Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator or build foundational fine art skills in drawing and painting, I tailor every session to your specific creative goals.
My 4-Stage Working Process:
Stage 1: Ideation & Research
I establish a strong cultural and stylistic foundation by conducting conceptual research, gathering reference imagery, selecting color swatches, and structuring core narrative ideas.
Stage 2: Sketching & Composition
I transition concepts into loose anatomical drawings, linear sketches, and digital grayscales before experimenting with color to build dynamic grid hierarchies, strong focal points, and lighting layouts.
Stage 3: Materialization & Rendering
I bring drafted compositions to life by transferring them onto physical canvases or building high-resolution digital layers, focusing on resolving exact forms, values, and organic textures.
Stage 4: Polish & Publication
I apply final chromatic finishes, color-shifting details, and professional typographic layouts to format the completed artwork for print editions, web layouts, or gallery displays.
