About Brandon
Hi, I'm Brandon, a 2025 graduate of North Sydney Boys High School, ranked 1st in NSW, and currently studying a double degree in Computer Science and Commerce at UNSW.
I graduated with an ATAR above 98, achieving 96 in English Advanced and 47/50 in English Extension 1. With over two years of experience tutoring English and Mathematics, I'm passionate about helping students develop the confidence, skills and study habits needed to achieve their academic potential.
However, English wasn't always one of my strongest subjects. At the end of Year 11, I was ranked 134th out of 156 students in English, before improving to 10th in Year 12. This improvement wasn't simply the result of studying harder, but learning how to study more effectively, understanding what examiners look for and developing a more sophisticated approach to analytical writing.
Having experienced this transformation firsthand, I understand how frustrating English can be, particularly when students feel they're putting in the effort without seeing the results they want.
This is one of the main reasons I enjoy tutoring. I want to share the strategies, resources and insights that helped me improve, while adapting my teaching to each student's individual needs.
I believe that academic improvement is achievable with the right guidance, consistent feedback and a structured approach to learning. My goal is to help students not only achieve stronger marks but also become more confident, independent learners who genuinely understand what makes an excellent English response.

My tutoring approach focuses on helping students develop a strong understanding of English while building the analytical, writing and examination skills necessary to achieve their academic goals.
Having personally improved my English ranking from 134th out of 156 students in Year 11 to 10th in Year 12 at North Sydney Boys High School, I understand the challenges students face and the strategies needed to achieve significant improvement.
My lessons include:
- Personalized learning: One-on-one lessons tailored to each student's strengths, weaknesses and learning goals.
- Essay writing and analysis: Teaching students how to construct sophisticated arguments, develop insightful textual analysis and write compelling responses.
- Exam preparation: Breaking down marking criteria, refining examination techniques and practicing timed responses.

I graduated from North Sydney Boys High School in 2025 with an ATAR above 98, achieving 96 in English Advanced and 47/50 in English Extension 1. I also have over two years of tutoring experience.
My online lessons typically run for 1–2 hours and cater to students from Kindergarten to Year 12, including English Standard, Advanced and Extension 1.
My goal is not simply to help students improve individual assessments, but to equip them with the skills, confidence and independence to consistently achieve stronger results.
