About Shelly
I have been a very outgoing and interactive person from a very young age, from fully adopting my baby sister as my own when she was born, to obtaining my ski certification license at 16 - educating kids and adults. Coaching seems to be in my blood, and I thrive off of passing on my knowledge to others, and seeing the progress come alive as we accomplish and establish skills together.

My approach:
I believe learning works best when it’s interactive, engaging, and student-centered. With children, I combine structured lessons with fun activities—songs, games, role-play, and storytelling—to make English come alive. I emphasize communication and confidence-building over static memorization, while still ensuring grammar, vocabulary, reading, and writing foundations are developed. I also adapt my methods to each child’s learning style, whether they learn better through visuals, listening, movement, or practice.
Typical Lesson Plan (45–60 minutes)
Warm-Up (5–10 mins)
- Greeting, short conversation practice (“How are you today?”).
- Quick energizer game or song to set a positive tone.
Introduction to New Topic (10 mins)
- Introduce a theme (e.g., animals, colors, food) with flashcards, visuals, or a story.
- Practice pronunciation through repetition and gestures.
Guided Practice (15 mins)
- Interactive activity (matching games, drawing, acting out, simple role-plays).
- Short writing or drawing task if appropriate to age/level.
Application (10 mins)
- Speaking practice in pairs or individually.
- “Real-life” mini conversations (ordering food, introducing themselves, describing a picture).
Wrap-Up & Review (5 mins)
- Quick recap of vocabulary/phrases.
- Fun closing activity (song, quiz, or word game).
- Assign a small take-home task (drawing with 3 English words, practicing a song, etc.).
