About Danna
Hi there! I'm Danna, a recent Northeastern University graduate with a passion for helping students discover their unique voice through writing and storytelling. With a B.A. in Media Screen Studies and Political Science and a 3.97 GPA, I've spent the last four years not just excelling academically, but gaining hands-on experience in the creative and nonprofit worlds.
When I’m not tutoring, I’m hosting podcasts on Spotify, playing volleyball, riding horses, or exploring new restaurants with friends. I’ve been fortunate to travel to over a dozen countries outside the U.S., and I love bringing that global perspective into my teaching. By incorporating diverse voices and multimedia approaches, I aim to make learning as dynamic, engaging, and connected as the world we live in.

TUTORING PHILOSOPHY:
My tutoring philosophy centers on storytelling as a powerful learning tool. Every piece of writing, from a paragraph to an essay, tells a story. I create personalized learning experiences that meet each student where they are, making writing both accessible and meaningful. I also incorporate collaborative workshops that build confidence through peer interaction and group activities, drawing from my experience in museum and nonprofit settings. My goal is to transform writing from a chore into a powerful tool for self-expression and academic success, using the same innovative storytelling techniques that helped me excel at Northeastern and succeed in competitive internships. Lessons can be tailored to any age level!
WHAT SETS ME APART:
I have a blend of real-world experience, recognized achievement, and a modern, student-centered approach. Through internships at institutions like the Institute of Contemporary Art and Civil Rights Corps, I’ve gained firsthand insight into professional writing and communication standards. My Scholastic Arts & Writing Gold Key Award and Northeastern's Creative Writing Award reflect my expertise in both creative and academic writing. With a degree in Media and Screen Studies, I incorporate platforms students actually use, from TikTok to podcasts, making lessons relevant and engaging. Lastly, with nearly seven years of tutoring experience, including four in after-school creative writing programs, I’m skilled at tailoring lessons to diverse learning styles and needs.
