About Ben

I have been an active professional musician and educator for 10+ years, working as a sideman, session musician, and bandleader working consistently in NYC in all styles of music. Some iconic venues I have performed at include City Winery, Smalls Jazz Club, The Knitting Factory, Nublu, and many more. I have also worked as a composer. Most recently, my compositions were featured in Eric Bogosian's play 1+1, which premiered off-Broadway in 2023.

As an educator, I have worked with students aged 3 up to 70, and have worked with music students of all levels. I have taught privately, as well as in some of NYC's top music programs. I have also led music classes at 2 Montessori schools in Manhattan, and have extensive training in a wide variety of music pedagogy.

In 2022, I earned a BFA in jazz guitar performance from The New School, where I received the Alice and John Coltrane Award of Excellence. While there, I studied with some of NYC's foremost musicians, including Jonathan Kreisberg, Gilad Hekselman, Lage Lund, and more.

About the lesson

My entire teaching concept is centered around helping each student to discover their voice on their instrument. I take a highly personalized approach with every student to ensure they reach their highest musical aspirations. Whether you have never learned music before or you are a seasoned professional, the focus of our lessons will be entirely focused on your interests and needs! I also emphasize practical skills and fundamentals in my lessons to build a strong musical foundation. In my lessons, I balance the fun of playing music with style-specific skills and technical fundamentals, to ensure that no stone is left unturned on your musical journey! Playing music is a deeply fulfilling and special endeavor and I look forward to helping you get in touch with the gift of music!
