About Andrew
I’m a university philosophy professor at the University of Colorado Boulder (PhD, 2015) who loves making big ideas clear and practical for students—AP/IB through college. At CU, I teach across the philosophy curriculum and focus on giving students structure, feedback, and confidence. My teaching has been recognized on campus: I received CU Boulder’s Marinus Smith Award for making a significant, positive impact on undergraduates. Students consistently report great experiences. On RateMyProfessors, I’m rated 5.0/5 across 130 reviews with 100% saying they’d take my classes again; comments include “best professor of my collegiate career!” and “changed my life.” Beyond the classroom, I created 1000-Word Philosophy, a widely used online anthology that distills complex topics into crisp, student-friendly essays—proof of my commitment to clarity and accessibility. How that helps you: I break dense readings into plain language, map arguments step-by-step, and give actionable, line-by-line feedback on essays. Sessions end with a short study plan so you know exactly what to do next. Parents can receive brief progress updates on request. If you want philosophy to click—and grades, essays, and exam scores to follow—I’m ready to help.

Philosophy made clear—at your pace. I’m a university philosophy professor (award-winning) who helps AP/IB and college students turn dense readings into plain-English understanding, write sharper papers, and walk into exams confident and prepared.
What I do for you
• Teach: Break down arguments and texts with concrete examples and simple diagrams/argument maps.
• Review: Go over lectures, readings, and past work to connect the dots and fix misconceptions.
• Edit: Line-by-line feedback on thesis, structure, evidence, and clarity—with a revision plan.
• Quiz: Short, targeted checks (active recall) so key terms, doctrines, and objections stick.
• Pace: We work as fast—or as slow—as you need. No rushing, no fluff.
• Goals: Every session aligns with your immediate targets (upcoming essay/exam) and longer-term growth.
