About Andrea

I am currently in my final semester as an undergraduate student at the University of Florida pursuing degrees in French and Francophone Studies and International Studies. I have also recently been accepted to a Master's in Human Rights and Humanitarian Action at Sciences Po's Paris School of International Affairs and I plan to begin my work there in August of 2023.

My passion for the French language and culture began in October of 2017 when I participated in a two-week exchange program my high school offered with a high school in a Parisian suburb of France. I resided with a host family and was able to experience life as a French high school student. It was in this trip that I discovered my love for French and returned to the United States determined to further pursue this newfound love. Since those two weeks in 2017, I have returned to France on numerous occasions to reside with my same host family and immerse myself once more in the language and culture. Additionally, in the summer of 2022, I participated in a university sponsored study abroad program to Paris where I resided with another French host family while taking coursework in the city.

I hope to be able to share all I have learned in my time in the French classroom as well as with my French friends and host families. Speaking a foreign language is so incredibly awarding and I aim to help students become confident in their French skills.

About the lesson

I have been a student of the French language for 10 years. As French is my second language, I understand very well what aspects of the language can be more challenging for native English speakers and I tailer my approach in teaching the language accordingly. I also have extensive experience living in France with a host family and understand textbook French as well as colloquial spoken French. I offer lessons for students of any level who wish to improve their French speaking, writing, and comprehension skills.
