About Ellen
Hi, I’m Ellen! I have been assisting in, and teaching ballet classes for the last 12 years. I currently teach adult ballet classes of all different experience levels, from absolute beginners through to advanced dancers, and I’d love to teach you! I am also a qualified Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) Level 1 teacher. My students often compliment my teaching style and enthusiasm, which they say is spread through my passion for ballet - my favourite thing is seeing my students also fall in love with ballet!
I have had a complicated relationship myself with ballet over the years, having trained vocationally before deciding the professional ballerina route wasn’t for me, and going to university to study Geophysics instead. It was at university that I discovered my love for teaching ballet, and now here we are!

I have an open and enthusiastic approach to teaching, with the view that anyone can dance, and through helping you improve your confidence, you can more rapidly improve in your dance technique and strength. I focus on ensuring a solid technical foundation initially, while also emphasising the importance of musicality in dance. Following this, I build up my students’ repertoire of moves consistently over time, ensuring correct technique of new moves as I teach them, rather than teaching the move and returning to cover correct technique later.

Deadly! Ellen is a wonderful, encouraging and incredibly professional tutor! She places great emphasis on building and mastering ballet foundations, and her lessons are highly structured. I really appreciated her guidance and clear instructions for our sessions!
