About Sam
Hi, my name is Sam.
I’ve been a bassist for over a decade and I am incredibly passionate about sharing my skills and knowledge with the next generation of bass players.
I still remember being 15 years old and picking up the bass guitar in a last-ditch effort to pass a practical music for my Junior Cert. What started as a hasty decision quickly became the start of a life-changing journey.
To suddenly find a passion in something so creative and expressive was amazing - an experience I would love to help others discover.
I am still a student of music as much as I ever have been which is an attitude I hope to pass on to my students.

Hello hello! My name is Sam and I am a bass tutor with over a decade of experience playing the bass guitar, writing music and performing gigs all across the Dublin music scene.
My approach to teaching bass guitar is to keep the process fun and rewarding.
While exercises for developing technique are crucial, my lessons are very much song-focused.
Prior to our first lesson I’ll ask you to tell me your 5 favorite artists/bands. This gives me a chance to scour through their material and find songs for you to learn.
During your journey to becoming a bassist you’ll be learning how to play the basslines of your favorite music.
This keeps the process fun so you actually stick to it.
I am also experienced with teaching children and know too well that their learning capabilities are different from adults!
If you're simply a beginner with a passion to play the bass - welcome!
Lessons are 1 hour long but can be rearranged to suit you.
Bass was my first instrument, not guitar. I know exactly what it's like to stare at those four strings for the first time with no idea where to start.
I was there too.
Let me guide you - from beginner to bassist, one step at a time.
Qualifications/Experience
- Level 8 Degree from BIMM Dublin
- Trained in Music Teaching
- 11 Years of playing bass
- Active performer of original music + Spotify releases
