About Peter
I first learned chess 16 years ago from my father. Enchanted by the game, I became involved in my primary school chess club and have continued to play until the present day - I have now been playing competitively for the last 2 years. As a result, I have an extensive knowledge of the game of chess, as well as the following achievements:
- I played for the University of Edinburgh team, winning 80% of my games, and helped our team to win the league.
- I came third in the Lothians Allegro 2020 Major tournament.
- I am in the top 3% of rapid chess.com players and in the top 10% of Lichess classical players. You can find me on both sites under the username "KnakAttack".
Furthermore, have studied numerous chess books and continue to train daily.

A good tutor must be approachable, and have a knack for cultivating an environment in which students feel comfortable when asking for clarification or help. They must teach clearly, and with an obvious enthusiasm for their course, seeking to make the subject as interesting as possible while taking students' specific requirements into consideration. Finally a good tutor must be prepared and have a well structured teaching plan. I have all these qualities and continually strive to uphold them.

Deadly! Peter is a knowledgeable, organized, and patient chess tutor. My sons are enjoying their chess lesson with Peter and always looking forward to it. He explains very well the different chess patterns and tactics and somehow manages to keep even my 7-year old son engaged throughout the session. They have learned a great deal from Peter in only six weeks since they started working with him. I cannot recommend Peter enough to anyone interested in learning the game of chess. He is indeed a great tutor!
