About Divya
Hi there! I’m Divya. I am a mover, feeler and a creative human. I am also someone who believes that anyone can dance and feel the sparkles it can bring to life.
My roots have always been in Bangalore. I grew up dancing Bollywood and Western styles, and over time my life took me to Portland, Oregon and the San Francisco Bay Area. This is where my love for Western and fusion styles really took off. I trained in Sassy Hip Hop, Street Jazz, Contemporary, and Bolly-Hop. I’ve worked with studios like ODC Dance Commons and Alonzo King LINES Ballet in San Francisco, and performed with independent dance companies in the US.
Alongside performance, I’ve also facilitated Bollywood beginner workshops and worked in movement-based, therapeutic settings.
My journey has brought me back to Bangalore, and I'm looking to give back, share my learnings and grow through that.
I am especially interested in working with adult women who are absolute beginners. As someone who started dancing in her early 20s and has been mostly self-taught, I've felt the joy that dance can bring outside of rigid technique, structure and how expansive it can feel when you're experimenting and dancing to just connect with your body. I see that it is not as easily available for women in their 30s and beyond.

My sessions will be gentle, easy-to-follow and fun. I'll focus on basic warm-ups to ensure we're stretching properly, simple moves to get you into your groove, a few gentle dance combinations to work our memory + muscles and end it with a cool down & reflections.
Classes are 1:1, online, and tailored entirely to your comfort level.
