About SHANG

Hi! My name is Ting, and I am currently based in Melbourne, offering both online and in-person Mandarin lessons.

I teach beginner-friendly Mandarin and can fully support lessons in English, so you don’t need any prior experience to get started.

I am a native Mandarin speaker, born and grown up in Shenzhen, a coastal city in southeastern China. I later spent 5 years in Shanghai completing my undergraduate studies at Shanghai Theatre Academy. Currently, I am studying a Master of Animation, Games and Interactivity at RMIT University.

As a beginner teacher, I bring a patient, friendly, and responsible approach to my classes. I carefully prepare each lesson and tailor the content based on your personal goals and learning pace.

Whether you want to learn Mandarin for travel, daily conversation, work, or any other purpose, I will help you build confidence step by step in a relaxed and supportive environment.

I can also introduce elements of Chinese culture into lessons to make learning more engaging and meaningful.

About the lesson

My teaching approach is personalized and structured, designed around each student’s goals. Whether you are learning Mandarin for travel, daily communication, cultural interest, or future study in China, lessons are tailored to your needs and learning pace.

Lessons typically run for 60–120 minutes and are interactive to keep students engaged. I use PPT to organize lessons logically and clearly, while combining practical exercises and conversation practice to make learning structured, meaningful, and fun.

I focus on building a strong foundation in pronunciation (pinyin and tones), while gradually developing practical vocabulary and real-life conversation skills.

Homework is flexible and optional, ranging from light review to more focused practice depending on your preference.

Currently, I am a new tutor, I am willing to teach students of all ages and provide full support in English. I am patient, well-prepared, and dedicated to creating a supportive and engaging learning environment.
