About Rachel
I'm a student at University, and since attending uni my music has sadly taken a back seat. Providing tuition allows me to reconnect with music, and I really enjoy passing on what I know.
Having taken around ten years worth of music lessons from several different teachers, I have think I know what makes a good teacher, and what practices I would want to avoid. I think learning music can be very competitive and high-pressure, and this leads to students, especially younger ones or those just starting out, becoming disheartened and losing motivation. I think I can teach in a way that will allow students to continue to enjoy and engage with music, and I will teach at the pace that you're comfortable with.

Having begun learning to play music at the age of 6, I have a lot of experience of different teaching styles, and know what worked to engage me at that age, and now! I also know how important it is for students to work out what kind of learning works for them, so I would want to know what kind of lessons you think you'd enjoy!
I love music, and believe it is a really valuable skill that can grow into a life long passion or a career. I'd love to share this passion, and believe I could be really useful especially at beginner level.
I have experience taking exams; both practical and theory, playing in an orchestra and performing, and am adept at music theory, so would be happy to teach you how to read music too!
