About Alfonso

I've been teaching, playing guitar and performing, including singing, for over 40 years. Having experience in teaching a variety of genres of music, I offer theory and practical lessons to meet your specific goals. I especially like the Blues, Rock, Jazz and Folk.

About the lesson

My teaching method follows both book(s) and a hands-on approach. As a resource I use various beginning/intermediate-level books as a guide. To reinforce what is being taught, I apply various ways to assess a student’s progress through learning songs and techniques. As the lessons progress, I make a determination as to what path will be the most beneficial and of value for my students, without losing sight of the student’s original goals.

But more importantly, I want the lessons to be fun. It’s been my experience that all theory and application lead to a boring experience.

Deadly! My kid really likes the teacher, so that seals the deal. Haha. He also has a lot of guitars, so we could check for the right size for my son. I loved his detailed and fun teaching methods and the systematic way they present lessons. I'm so excited to see him playing soon!

Deadly! Alf is a great teacher and a nice guy. He has a very professional teaching setup with videos and customized lessons. He's helped me get back my excitement for playing guitar and I've already learned more music theory than I expected to learn. Very happy with these lessons!

Deadly! Makes the lessons feel personal to you which helps an incredible amount. The video review after the lessons are also amazing for learning being able to go back and review over things you learned and may have forgotten or haven't picked up all the way yet.

Dan

Alfonso is a terrific teacher and has been very helpful in getting me started. I am a complete beginner and Alfonso has been wonderful in answering my questions and helping me pick out my first guitar.

His lessons are fun and packed with things to practice on during the week. After each lesson he sends a detailed email reviewing what we covered and what to practice on.

He is very responsive to questions via email and offers helpful advice and encouragement.

I would highly recommend Alfonso!
