My 16 year old has been taking lessons with Yaman for several months. He is kind and easygoing, and takes great care and joy in teaching his students. Yaman really pays attention to what motivates his students and skillfully incorporates technique and foundational music skills while providing a really fun and positive learning experience. He teaches my daughter in guitar and helps her with keyboard. He works very well with my daughter who has special needa and learn slowly and differently. She has been with Yaman for 3 years and has learned alot. She has also gained lots of confidence in her ability.

Yaman has been teaching my three children, ages 5 and 8 (twins), for over a year, and we couldn’t be happier. The kids genuinely love working with him. He is engaging, patient, and thoughtful in how he tailors his approach to each of their very different personalities and learning styles.

He’s teaching them three different instruments, piano, ukulele, and guitar, and has been equally effective both in person and virtually. When we needed to switch to virtual lessons, my kids were adamant that they would rather continue with Yaman online than work with another teacher in person. That says everything.

He’s also wonderfully communicative and flexible with scheduling, which makes a busy parent’s life much easier. We highly recommend him.

Yaman is a close friend whom I had musically collaborated with. He is an excellent bassist, a very trustworthy musician and a very kind human being.

His musicianship involves an incredible feeling of rhythm and groove, virtuoso level tone and technique, and highly expressive improvisation skills. His experience with a wide range of styles ranging from Blues, Jazz, Cuban, Turkish and anything in between is very impressive.

He is a gifted teacher and does great with small kids as well.

I’ve worked with Yaman as my bass teacher for well over a decade and he’s amazing. (He’s taught my kids as well incidentally and is great with them too.) I’ve learned a lot from him not just technically but also about how to be a better player within the context of a band. He is always open to what I want to learn and extremely supportive. He will take the time to break things down and make it clear, no matter how many times I need it to get it down :) Can’t say enough good things about working with him! Highly recommended.

I am an adult student, and I have been taking bass lessons from Yaman for about 5 years now. I’ve had a lot of teachers over the years (guitar, piano, and bass), and Yaman is one of the best. Yaman is absolutely amazing! He is my son’s very first guitar teacher, and my son absolutely loves his lessons. Yaman is great with children, and is very patient. My son is only seven years old, but has learned so much since he has begun playing the instrument.

Yaman Akdogan is my guitar teacher. We meet once a week through Zoom and he always leaves room for me to explore and talk about what I want to do. He helps me to the best of his capacity and walks me through difficult tasks step by step, offering tips and tricks and links to watch or read. He is very thorough, and I often wish our classes lasted longer than 30 minutes!

Yaman was my bass instructor, and working with him completely elevated both my technical skills and my overall understanding of music. He doesn’t just teach notes or scales — he teaches musicianship. I would absolutely recommend Yaman as a guitar tutor. I have been a student of Yaman for many years and I’ve always loved having him as my teacher. He’s very go with the flow in what you want to learn or work on, but he will still push you to get better, while keeping a low stress environment. When I first started playing the bass, I was very nervous to start and felt like I needed to get better on my own before taking lessons, but with Yaman, I learned the basics and eventually grew to be a pretty decent bass player. Working with Yaman has been such a fun and enjoyable time, and I wouldn’t want to learn an instrument with anyone else.
