About Harley

I am a passionate flute tutor with 8 years of experience, having guided over 150 students successfully. My approach balances technical skill-building—breath control, tone, finger technique, and rhythm—with creative exploration and expressive performance. I customise lessons to the student’s learning style and goals, making learning engaging and rewarding.

I also teach sight-reading, music theory, and ensemble skills, providing a holistic musical education. My goal is to help students grow into confident, expressive, and passionate flutists who enjoy every note they play.

About the lesson

My flute teaching methodology centres on creating a personalised, adaptive, and inspiring learning environment. I begin by understanding each student’s learning style—visual, auditory, or hands-on—and tailor lessons to their strengths and pace. This ensures that learning is enjoyable, engaging, and effective.

Flexibility is at the heart of my approach. I adjust exercises, repertoire, and practice routines according to the student’s goals, interests, and skill level. Collaboration is emphasised through duets, ensemble practice, and group activities that help students build confidence, timing, and expressive musicality. Positivity underpins every lesson, creating a supportive environment where students feel encouraged to experiment, take risks, and celebrate progress.

Alongside flute instruction, I incorporate music theory, sight-reading, rhythm exercises, and ear training. This comprehensive methodology balances technical mastery with creativity, preparing students to become confident, expressive, and well-rounded musicians.
