About Karina
I am a certified 2nd grade teacher with experience creating engaging, supportive, and structured learning environments for young learners. I earned my degree from Appalachian State University, where I developed a strong foundation in child development, instructional strategies, and differentiated teaching practices.
I am committed to helping students build confidence and achieve academic success through clear, patient, and individualized instruction. My approach focuses on meeting each student at their level, identifying their strengths, and guiding them step by step toward mastery of key skills in reading, writing, math, and language development.
As a bilingual educator in English and Spanish, I am able to support a diverse range of learners and create an inclusive learning environment where students feel understood and encouraged. I am a dedicated and supportive tutor who uses a student-centered approach to help learners feel confident and successful. As a bilingual educator, I am able to support both English and Spanish-speaking students, making lessons accessible and comfortable for a wide range of learners.
A typical lesson begins with a quick review of previously learned material, followed by a clear introduction of the new concept. I use a mix of guided practice, hands-on activities, and real-life examples to make learning meaningful and easy to understand. Each lesson ends with a short check for understanding or reflection to ensure the student feels confident before moving forward.
What sets me apart is my experience as a 2nd grade teacher and my ability to create a positive, encouraging environment where students feel supported and motivated. I know how to break down complex ideas into simple, manageable steps and adjust my teaching to meet each student where they are.
My lessons are best suited for elementary students, especially early learners who need support in reading, writing, math, or language development. I also work well with beginners learning English or Spanish, as well as students who benefit from extra patience, structure, and individualized support.
